This is the first in a series of promo art pieces i'm making for a local band called all systems halt. I'm pretty much remaking their image, and we decided to go with a robo-organic theme. Sure it's not the most original, but it's something i've never done before, and i thought it would be cool to challenge myself with the cyborg part of it.

I think this came out rather well, and it's probably one of my best pieces. The things i know i need to work on for the next ones are the little "meat" layer on the faces and blending that metal piece at the top a little better into the rock.

it took a lot of creative sharpening to get the person's picture right. (He's the guitarist for the band.)

since time is a factor, the next two will have the same background with different colors, and the lights on the side moving to different places. i'm also going to try to split the faces in different ways.

the one thing i wish i could have done differntly was keep the face a little more flesh colored. i had made it a very pale skin color with a touch of blue, but they wanted it pretty much colorless aside from a blue tint. instead of just colorizing it, i just worked with teh saturation and levels, so it still looks decently natural.
